Celestial Waves draws inspiration from Vincent van Gogh’s "Starry Night"and the rhythmic flow of sea waves. The project explores weaving as an artistic and functional medium, beginning with learning its fundamentals like drafting patterns, designing on paper, and experimenting with color combinations inspired by the night sky and ocean textures. Using wool and cotton threads, techniques like plain weave, twill, and textural variations were practiced to create woven samples. These explorations led to a cohesive collection of home furnishings, including rugs, cushion covers, tea coasters, and a table runner, blending artistry, craftsmanship, and the calm beauty of nature.

Process

The very first was to take inspiration that you can incorporate in your designs , Then starting to learn the basic of wrap and weft how to use different kinds of loom like table loom and frame loom ,exploring the patterns of the paper drafting then learning the whole process of weaving , then explored plain weave , waft twill , weft twill , diamond twill and honey womb , them explored materials for the texture and then used the process of dyeing to get the different colors as per the inspiration , then worked with frame loom to incorporate a into bigger sample , explored fabrics and dyed them to achieve the colors and did sketches to have a different patterns to make tea coasters , rug and cushion with involved basic stitching that the project concluded.
